“I became a CASA volunteer in June 2019 and I have loved every moment of it. The primary reason why I became a CASA is because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than just myself. I am stationed in Southeast Texas as a U.S. Navy Recruiter and have been an active duty service member for 7 years. When I initially moved to Jefferson County, I was adhering to a schedule where I would go to work just to come home and do it all over again the next day. I didn’t feel like I was fulfilling my greatest potential. I felt that I should be doing more. I am a firm believer that the most important part of our lives is not what we achieve for ourselves, but what we achieve for others. I searched for places with opportunities to assist throughout the community and stumbled across CASA of Southeast Texas. CASA stood out to me the most because of its compassionate, devoted dedication to helping children and reuniting families. Children are dear to my heart and the ones who struggle through abuse, neglect, and other unfortunate disadvantages should be able to have a voice. It is an honor to advocate for any child, but especially for the ones around the world who need it most. I am beyond grateful to have become a Court Appointed Special Advocate and it is by far one of the best opportunities I could ever ask for.”
